Lucas Meyer Cosmetics by IFF at Suppliers’ Day in New York presented three recently launched innovations:
Reviscalp
This product resolves inflammation for a healthy scalp and shinier hair. ReviScalp™ is a natural and sustainable extract of the endemic Australian anise myrtle, developed to address the tendency for flaking in hair care by resolving inflammation for a healthy scalp and shinier hair.
Specialized Pro-Resolving Mediators (SPMs) are a recently discovered, novel series of molecules. Produced only during the resolution stage of the inflammatory response, they are key players in the return to homeostasis by reducing inflammation and oxidative stress while optimizing tissue regeneration. In their absence, the body never truly returns to homeostasis and will be driven into a chronic inflammatory stage.
While most anti-inflammatory and soothing solutions focus on decreasing pro-inflammatory mediators, ReviScalp™ increases the production of specialized Pro-Resolving Mediators, the key molecules for accelerating the scalp’s return to homeostasis. In addition to the products mentioned above, sustainability is at the core of IFF. In this case, two of its companies, Southern Cross Botanicals and ibr, are UEBT certified.
This signifies a commitment to a world where all people and biodiversity thrive. They have adopted a plan to ethically source their ingredients from biodiversity. Among the points in SCB’s 2020-2025 Public Commitments are:
- Promote the sustainable preservation of biodiversity through the assessment and verification of good agricultural and wild harvesting practices in their supply chains. Through its membership in the Union for Ethical BioTrade (UEBT), SCB is working to ensure that 100% of business-critical natural and renewable materials are traceable to the harvest site and fully assessed by 2025. Identified risks will be mitigated or improved, and plans will be implemented to meet our social and environmental standards.
- Respect traditional knowledge and recognize the cultural significance of our ingredients by committing to equitably share the benefits arising from the use of these ingredients.
- SCB will demonstrate this by initiating formal benefit-sharing agreements where appropriate, as well as actively seeking Indigenous procurement opportunities and suppliers that provide benefits to Indigenous communities. By 2025, 10% of its critical suppliers will be Indigenous-owned businesses.
It is committed to ensuring that all workers in our supply chains are paid equal to or more than the minimum wage and that they do not employ child labor. By 2025, it will verify this across all its critical supply chains.
